A Few More SEO Scams

After writing my last intel, SEO Myths and Scams, my brain kept coming up with more scams to write about. So here are a few more. 1 - We've Cracked Google's Algorithm
There was a time when Google would make significant changes to their algorithm, and you'd see wild fluctuations in the rankings. But no more. The algorithm is in constant evolution, likely receiving multiple tweaks every week. How can you "crack" something that's not constant? You can't. 2 - Our Methods are a Trade Secret
Would you hire a contractor to build your house who refused to tell you how they were going to build it? Would you hire a doctor who refused to tell you what the medication was that they had prescribed? An SEO professional should be able to describe what they're doing, and articulate how it will be beneficial. If they can't do this, don't trust them. 3 - We Have an Inside Man at Google
Yes, I've actually heard this one before. I laughed. Then I hung up. 4 - Link Directories Will Improve Your SERPs
If an SEO professional tries to talk you into installing a link directory on your website, hang up immediately. Even if they're not scamming you intentionally, they've obviously learned nothing about SEO. I'm sure I'll wake up tomorrow and remember a few more. Be careful, and happy marketing!
